Kicking off 2020 like a BOSS with The Organised Boss

There are so many things I love about the start of a new year. At home we usually reorganise and declutter, give it a spring clean... oh and one of my favourite things is to put fresh sheets on the bed for NYD.

But why should it just be about the home? This is also where I like to organise my work space too. Don't get me wrong, the last thing I'm thinking about right now is work - but I gotta take advantage of all this R&R i'm getting over the break. I'll be 100% motivated once our little holiday is over, but it's pointless if I start my first day back wasting 27 minutes trying to find things. I'd love to get it done in the lead up to Christmas, but there's just way too many things going on, no one knows what day it is or if the shops are even open and the house looks like a busy day-care centre with toys eeeeverywhere! Once the festive fog clears and we get back into some sort of a routine - then it's time.

Here are a few things I've planned to sort out before I'm back at my desk:

DECLUTTER
A clear desk and office is (most of the time) a clear mind. While it's great that most of you are off recharging and refreshing your bodies and minds in preparation for the year ahead, it's so important that you come back to work ready to hit the ground running and that might be challenging to do when you're looking for something and have zero recollection of where it is! Take everything out of your drawers, shelves and cupboards and get rid of ANYTHING that you don't want or need. Check that all your pens are working too - I always seem to grab the same one that's run out of ink (sooooo annoying).

UNSUBSCRIBE
OMG, I don't know about you but for me this is the perfect time of year to get my inbox to stop looking like our physical mailbox. We've got a "no junk mail" sign on it, but it always looks like it's vomiting with Dominos leaflets. I've obviously subscribed to A LOT of stuff in the last 12 months but it's taken over my emails like cray cray. Get in there, and don't just delete it. Take the time now to unsubscribe so that you're not wasting precious time later.

HYGIENE
I actually do this one on a weekly basis as Allegra really enjoys "typing like mummy" at my desk so I tend to disinfect it all.the.time! It's actually a good habit to get yourself into, and you could just pop a reminder at the end of every week for you to do for a fresh new week ahead. Keep some wipes or what ever you prefer to use at your desk or in a drawer/cuboard nearby and wipe down your keyboard, mouse and desk. Wouldn't take longer than 60 seconds. Pinky swear.

IMPORTANT DATES
Remember all those annoying but important things that are coming up like your car registration or insurances? They always seem to creep up when you least expect it. If you haven't already, pop these dates into your calendar AND if you're like me and like to stay well ahead of the game request an alert a week or two in advance. This one saves me all the time!

I hope that some of these were helpful and would love to know what how you're getting yourself ready for a goal-smashing 2020!
